2. Is it legal?
Every country/state/province has its own legislation when it comes to motor vehicles. The state of California, for example, does not consider the vehicle operator as part of the vehicle, so the laws that govern the lighting of a motor vehicle do not apply, and therefore this is legal there. In BC, Canada, it is technically illegal, but we have ridden with it on while passing countless police officers and have only ever received compliments.
Phone your local police department if you would like peace of mind before ordering. We are not responsible for any encounters you may come across with your local authorities.
3. How do the S Kits differ?
Electron S Kit: available in 6 colors, has 3 meters of EL wire and 50 cm of EL tape.
Proton S Kit: available in 8 colors, has two 2-meter EL wires, but no EL tape. Designed as an option for helmets with lots of edges/corners/vents that make mounting EL tape difficult.
Neutron S Kit: available in up to 6 colors, has two EL tapes of predetermined design, no EL wire (no glue needed). The "pre-cut" design of the EL tapes facilitates easy installation for creatively challenged (sorry!) and/or for those who are squeamish about putting glue on their helmets.
4. What's the difference between the old (discontinued) kits and the new S Kits?
The new S Kits are water resistant and feature a controller that is smaller, sleeker looking, detacheable, and usb-rechargeable (charging cable is included). The S Kits also have smaller, stronger connectors that are easier to connect/disconnect.
5. Will the glue affect my helmet?
No, our Helmet Glue/Accelerator combo does not contain any harmful solvents and is completely safe for helmets. Also, the glue instantly becomes inert when used in conjunction with the Accelerator.

Please note, we are not responsible for any duty/taxes that you incur upon receiving your shipment. US customers will not need to pay duty or taxes. Canadian customers will only need to pay taxes. Everyone else may be subject to duty, taxes, and/or brokerage fees.

7. Is the high pitched hum of the controller normal?
Yes, but it is too quiet to hear while riding.

No. We only sell kits that customers install on their own helmets.

11. When can I expect my order to arrive?

USA orders: 3 - 4 business days from shipping date. Faster options are available.
Canada orders: 2 - 7 business days from shipping date. The closer the customer is to the Pacific Coast, the faster the item will be delivered. Faster options are available.
Everywhere else: 6 - 10 business days from shipping date. Faster options are available. Sometimes the destination country's Customs can hold parcels for weeks and, in rare cases, months. It is strongly recommended you choose a shipping option that is tracked from start to finish if you don't trust your Customs or Postal Services.
12. Is the LightMode Kit a permanent modification?
The Electron S and the Proton S Kits include EL wires that must be installed using our special LightMode Glue, therefore we consider those modifications permanent. We opted for a more secure attachment method, over a more convenient one, to ensure the EL wire won't fly off when travelling at high speeds.
The Neutron S Kits, on the other hand, don't include EL wires, thus can easily be removed.
13. Are the kits compatible with modular helmets?
Yes, just make sure to leave enough clearance for the chin piece when it flips up and be mindful where to glue things down near the joint. It's best to test out your design using the PVC stickers provided in our LightMode Kits before gluing everything down.
14. I have not received a shipment notification email. Should I be worried?
Occasionally, our automated shipment notification is blocked by email filters - please check you Spam Folder.
We can confidently say, though, that 99% of those who contacted us about their order received their shipment within the estimated shipping time.
15. Will I have to pay duties/taxes upon delivery?
Normally, duty and tax rates are set by your government, and your post office is required to collect it upon receipt of an item. It's a standard practice worldwide, although sometimes customs offices do not charge duties/taxes for a variety of reasons.
For US orders: no duty or taxes.
For Canadian orders: only taxes which you will pay while submitting you order.
16. What is your return policy?
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return your order in original packaging, and in new and working condition, within 30 days from your date of purchase. To speed up processing of your refund you should place a note with your Order Number in the return box. There is a 15% restocking fee for all returns. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
